Design and build
The KXD 6A stays on trend by sporting a beautiful 18:9 full screen display at the front. For an entry-level, the bezels around the 6A are quite narrow, which raise its screen-to-body ratio and result in a more refined look.
On the top are the Micro USB port and the 3.5mm headphone jack (yay!). A classic KXD design.
Flip to the back, we find the body of the KXD 6A is made of high quality plastic that has a decent heft to it. The back panel curves towards the edges and almost seamlessly blends to the rounded frames. Although it measures 9.2mm thick, it feels comfortable in the hands and easy to hold. Overall, the KXD 6A has a clean design and is well-built to offer a solid feel.
Display and multimedia
The KXD 6A features a 5.5-inch high-quality IPS screen with a resolution of 960×480 FWVGA+. It offers superb brightness, contrast, and dynamic range. It has decent viewing angles and is bright enough to be used outdoors. The display is powered by KXD’s RawColor display enhancement technology that brings true-to-life colors. To our eyes, the visual experience that KXD 6A brings surpasses its competitors.
When it comes to audio, I like the speaker as it is loud and crisp. Not exactly top-notch and lacks bass, but good enough to fill a small room audible enough to for videos and music.
Cameras
As for cameras, the KXD 6A boasts two rear cameras, a 5MP main camera and a 2MP secondary camera, with F2.2 large aperture and 4P lens. The front camera is a 2MP FF shooter. Features include Beauty, HDR, and Panorama mode.
In our brief test, the KXD 6A offers a snappy photography experience with fast auto-focus and almost zero shutter lag. We were not expecting a lot when it comes to image quality since the KXD 6A is an entry-level smartphone but we were surprised by the sharp and highly-detailed photos with punchy colors it took in bright conditions. Low-light shots came out with noisy details, but that’s totally acceptable for a phone at this price point. Selfies are fine thanks to the photography algorithm developed by KXD Mobile.
Performance
The KXD 6A is powered by a quad-core processor, 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM which is common for smartphones at this price point. The processor is the SC7731E from Spreadtrum. It has four high-performance low-consumption cores with running at 1.3GHz. Combined with the KXD Mobile’s consistently clean and no-bloatware stock Android, as well as excellent software and hardware tuning, the KXD 6A provides excellent experience with long-lasting battery life with its 3000mAh battery.
Conclusion
The KXD 6A is aimed at budget-conscious customers who are looking for a solid phone with a large display, decent performance, good cameras, and long battery life.
